Day 125: Star Wars The Clone Wars widevision sketch card

Colleen Doran GSI

Item: Artist sketch card
Artist: Colleen Doran
Set: Star Wars The Clone Wars (widevision)
Price: $34.95

While this rendition of Senator Padmé Amidala is from the Clone Wars, it is from the Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series rather than the 3-D animated show upon which the set of cards is based. She is depicted in the dress given to her by Anakin Skywalker before he returns to the outer rim to continue fighting the Clone War. While this is an original sketch, I believe the artist drew many similar cards, so I’m not willing to call it one-of-a-kind.

I purchased this card from Claw Gems LLC in February 2015.

Day 124: Star Wars Evolution Update #47

Evolution Update 47Evolution Update 47 back

Item: Padme Amidala
Manufacturer: Topps
Set: Star Wars Evolution Update Edition
Card: 47
Price: $275 for case

Topps released Star Wars Evolution in 2001. After the release of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were released, Topps released an Update Edition in 2006. The Evolution sets feature the characters of the saga. The Padme Amidala base card sees a portrait of the Senator in the outfit she wore on Mustafar. with a 3/4 shot in the background of the same outfit.

I purchased a case of Star Wars Evolution Update cards from Craig Herman in August 2006.

Day 120: Star Wars Heritage Etched Foil

Heritage-Foil

Item: Etched-Foil Card
Artist: Jan Duursema, Dan Parsons
Set: Star Wars Heritage
Manufacturer: Topps
Card: 5 of 6
Price: $132 (for 2 boxes of cards)

Star Wars Heritage was the first set from Topps to include images from all six films. Of course, with Revenge of the Sith not released until the following year, there were only a few cards which revealed very few details. In addition to the 120-card base sest and 30 stickers, there were two sets of six etched-foil cards in the same style as Star Wars Galaxy. This card comes from the first  wave of cards.

I purchased two boxes of Star Wars Heritage from Fadads Collectibles in October 2004.

Item: Senator Amidala cards
Set: Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures
Manufacturer: Topps
Cards: 7/140, 55/140

From Amazon.com: Topps introduces the ALL NEW Star Wars: Clone War Adventures Trading Card Game. Based on a television show, Clone Wars is the #1 show with Boys ages 6-11. This easy-to-play kid friendly card game complements the HOT NEW online game from Sony! In total, 140 cards feature Star Wars characters, ships & vehicles. Additionally, there is a code card in every pack for the online virtual rewards!

The outfit on card 7 is similar to one she wore in Attack of the Clones; while card 55 has an all-new outfit. Unfortunately, this was the last set that Topps produced based on The Clone Wars.

I purchased a starter deck and several packs of cards at Target in August 2011.

Day 109: Star Wars Galaxy 4 #19

Title: Adventure on Ilum
Artist: Adam Hughes
Set: Star Wars Galaxy 4
Manufacturer: Topps
Sub-section: New Visions
Card: 19-384
Price: $78 for a box

After a 14-year hiatus, Topps produced a 4th series of Star Wars Galaxy cards in 2009. Adam Hughes was inspired by the Ilum episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars to produce this realistic image of Jedi Master Yoda and Senator Padmé Amidala who is drawn to resemble Natalie Portman. In turn, this image inspired the statue produced by Gentle Giant and featured on Day 11. The double numbering is a continuation from the earlier Galaxy sets which numbered the card’s position in its release and in the full series of Star Wars Galaxy cards.

I purchased a full retail box of Star Wars Galaxy 4 cards at Target on March 8, 2009.
