Day 78: Celebration III print by Corroney and Carlisle

20141130_134032

Title: Revenge of the Sith
Artist: Joe Corroney and Jeff Carlisle
Event: Star Wars Celebration III
Size: 12″ x 17″
Paper: 4-color process lithograph on 90# cover stock
Price: $20~40

This is a somewhat unusual piece as it is artwork for a Star Wars Celebration III limited edition print, but the bottom of the print where it would have the edition number, copyright, and Joecorroney.com link are missing. The original version (pictured above) is still for sale on Joe Corroney’s Storeenvy site, so it’s not like he cut off the bottom of the prints that didn’t sell during Celebration. Nevertheless, my print is signed by Joe Corroney.

I know I didn’t buy this directly from Joe Corroney, but I cannot determine where or for how much I did purchase it.

Day 77: The Many Flavors of Padme by Jason Palmer

Title: The Many Flavors of Padme
Artist: Jason Palmer
Edition: 27/250
Event: Star Wars Celebration IV
Size: 36″ x 24″
Paper: Giclee print on Satin paper
Price: $62

Having previously drawn Padme Amidala in several different outfits, Jason Palmer opted to do all of them for his limited edition print for Star Wars Celebration IV and Star Wars Celebration Europe. The print has 38 different outfits with oversized images of the Naboo Celebration dress, the Picnic dress, the Geonosis Arena outfit, the Fireside dress, and her funeral attire. Before creating the collage, Jason started with individual sketches of each outfit. All of those sketches and the original print were purchased by Lucasfilm.

I purchased this print on May 24, 2007, during Star Wars Celebration IV in the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The first Star Wars Celebration took place in Denver, Colorado, in May 1999. A variety of badges were made for 3-day admission, staff, volunteers, all access, etc. The VIP Guest badge featured the Queen of Naboo.

I purchased the badge set from StarWarsShop.com.

Day 74: Print by Tsuyoshi Nagano

TSUYOSHI NAGANO 20141130_13411320140226_162942

Title: Untitled
Artist: Tsuyoshi Nagano
Edition: 229/250
Event: Star Wars Celebration Japan
Size: 16.5″ x 23.5″
Price: $52.38

This illustration of Padme Amidala is unique in many ways. Foremost, it is the first officially licensed depiction of Natalie Portman in the Snow Bunny outfit from Star Wars: Clone Wars. It also is the first to feature the Snow Bunny outfit along with costumes from any of the films–in this case, both from Attack of the Clones. More recently, it appeared in the book Star Wars Art: Illustrations.

Fellow Rebel Legion member Brian Huan picked this up for me at Celebration Japan.

At Star Wars Celebration V, Official Pix introduced a line of character lapel pins with one pin for each autograph guest. A Silver Toned character pin was free with purchase of a Metallix 8″x10″ photo. Limited to the first 150 of each character photo. With Catherine Taber in attendance, this pin of Padmé Amidala was available.

Event: Star Wars Celebration IV
Image size: 28″x 10″
Paper size: 32″ x 14.5″
Paper type: archival heavy weight matte paper
Price: $225

Unlike most of the limited edition prints offered in the Star Wars Celebration IV Art Show, this print was available in three sizes. Only seven prints were made in this size and even fewer had gold leaf. You can see Terese Nielsen put the gold leaf on one of those seven prints in this video: Gold Leaf Demo. I like to think it is my print.

My parents had the print professional framed for my birthday in 2007. As to how I got #1, I believe I emailed the artist in the hour after the print was announced on StarWars.com. Most of that time was figuring out her email address.
