Day 180: The Senator #180/200

DSCN1115 craig-drake-star-wars-the-senator-mondo-posterDSCN1116

Title: The Senator
Artist: Craig Drake
Edition: 180/200
Size: 11″ x 17″
Price: $37.49

Craig Drake has now done several licensed pieces of art for Lucasfilm including the key art for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, but his first works were a series of five women of Star Wars which also included Aayla Secura “The General”, Aurra Sing “The Hunter”, Leia Organa “The Princess”, and Ann and Tan “The Twins”. I believe I only own “The Senator” and “The General”. Those five are among several used in a 2013 calendar. Both this print and the calendar were exclusive to StarWarsShop.com.

I bought this print from StarWarsShop.com on December 2, 2009.

Day 39: Padme Amidala Character Key

DSCN1069

Item: Padmé Amidala Character Key
Manufacturer: Acme Archives, Ltd.
Edition: #218/750
Size: 8″ x 6″
Price: $30

ACME Archives introduced the character key at Star Wars Celebration III with Yoda, as seen in Star Wars: Clone Wars. The line continued for many years with a close correlation between character keys and Gentle Giant maquettes. The Padmé Amidala, much like the maquette, was a StarWarsShop.com exclusive, limited to 750.

I bought the key directly from StarWarsShop.com for $30.

Day 35: Star Wars Episode I Heroes Chrome Poster

Item: Star Wars Episode I Heroes Chrome Poster
Manufacturer:
Material: Chromium KromeFX, foil-backed (thick paper stock)
Size: 24″ x 36″
Price: ??

Numerous Chrome Art posters were produced in the late 1990s. Most were matted to 8″ x 10″, but two full size posters were produced for Star Wars: Episode I. The heroes version featured here as well as a villains version which featured Darth Maul, Sebulba, Battle Droids, etc. Not only were these posters printed on a foil-backed paper, they were slightly embossed so that the character faces stood out.

I purchased both posters at Tatooine Traders at Disney-MGM Studios, i.e., Walt Disney World. The metal in the posters made them opaque on the TSA x-rays, so I had to remove them from the poster tube to get through security.

Day 33: Queen Amidala poster

Item: Queen Amidala Star Wars Episode I poster
Manufacturer: At-A-Glance
Price: $6

For Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, At-A-Glance distributed several posters. Some featured a character from the film–Darth Maul, Anakin Skywalker, Jar Jar Binks, Queen Amidala. Posters also included one each for Podracing and the Battle of Naboo. The Queen Amidala poster shows the queen in four outfits with a close-up of the Red Senate Gown dominating the right side.

I am uncertain when and where I acquired this poster. I think it was well after 1999.
